Free download, a lovely interview and a new arrival!

Hello, it's been a while since I last posted, but I have a good excuse. Two days after my last post my beautiful baby boy was born and, needless to say, he has been keeping me pretty busy! We have had a lovely summer, making the most of the sunshine, and getting to know each other :-)

In the meantime the lovely Homemaker magazine got in touch for an interview for their 'meet the maker' section, and as a result I have a really nice double-page feature in this month's edition. Thank you Homemaker! You can find out more about Homemaker magazine here. It's full of great ideas, inspiration and craft projects for your home, take a look!

UPPERCASE Magazine Surface Pattern Design Guide

I am a big fan of UPPERCASE, a quarterly Canadian magazine published, edited and designed by Janine Vangool. If you've not heard of it, it's a really beautifully designed publication full of inspiring design content. Each new issue I get is a real treat I read cover to cover, can you tell how much I like it yet? ;-)

So, when I saw that Janine Vangool was doing a callout for submissions for a Surface Pattern Design Guide which will be included in the upcoming Issue 21 of UPPERCASE I had to send some of my designs in. I was thrilled to get an email from Janine last week telling me my work had been selected for inclusion in the guide. I just know it's going to look amazing, here's a peek at the covers...

The UPPERCASE cover, illustrated by Molly Hatch, and the Surface pattern Design Guide cover,
illustrated by Jan Avellana
And here's a little video describing what will be included in the guide, which will also be distributed at Surtex this May, and Janine's top tips on how to stand out in the world of Surface Pattern Design.

Issue 21 will be out in April, you can subscribe here with the discount code 'USPDG2014 for an extra $15 off, and it's also available from these stockists.

I can't wait to get my copy, and to share which of my designs were selected. Thanks Janine!

Show and Tell

Time seems to have flown since I launched my first range of products at Home in January. I had a great show and really enjoyed exhibiting for the first time. I had a lot of interest and happily my product range was really well received. Along with gaining new stockists I made lots of interesting contacts which I'm hoping could lead to exciting things. All in all I think it was a really successful show and I'm very glad I did it.

I exhibited in the Homegrown section where the stands measure a generous 3 x 3 metres, so there was a lot of room to play with when designing my stand. Below you can see the end result (apologies for the quality of the pic).

At the show it was lovely to meet and chat with Katie Treggiden, the founder of the brilliant Confessions of A Design Geek, which was named as one of the best design blogs by The Sunday Times this week. I was very pleased to be interviewed by Katie for a feature, and you can read it and find out a little more about me and my design process by clicking here. Thanks Katie!
